Staying at the Gladiatori Hotel in Rome
really made our break that little bit special. It wasn’t cheap,
but in this case you really pay for the quality you get. The view from
our room over the Colosseum was stunning, particularly when it was lit
up by night, and the rooftop terrace bar was beautiful as the sun sets
over the Forum, even if the drinks were quite pricey. The staff and feel
of the place is quite exclusive as there are very few rooms, and because
of that you don’t feel like you are just another number in line.
Would recommend it for anyone planning a special weekend as it made our
trip just perfect!

The Gladiatori was the best Hotel we stayed in while in Italy. You are
right in the thick of the history of this city, right in the centre of
Ancient Rome. We didn’t have a room overlooking the Colosseum,
but the view over the neighbouring park was tranquil, and you couldn’t
hear the traffic from the room. The breakfast was good, and had some
eggs and sausage, and the rooms were spacious and well laid out. We had
some wine waiting for us when we arrived which was a nice touch, although
I don’t know if that’s because we were on our honeymoon or
if everyone gets that. Although we enjoyed everywhere we went on our
European trip, being in the middle of it all at the Gladiatori made Rome
a little bit more special than the rest.

The best view I have ever witnessed was from the Terrace of the Gladiatori
at dusk. The Colosseum rising lit up in front of you, and Piazza Venezia
and a couple of Domes in the distance as the sky was turning mauve-blue
was a picture I couldn’t capture no matter how many photos I took.
The Hotel being quite small and cosy also made the place feel more exclusive
and our room was certainly big enough and tastefully decorated. The buffet
breakfast was adequate and the staff were helpful while being discreet.
There was Internet, satellite TV and all the other options you have in
a big hotel, with the advantage that the Gladiatori is small enough for
it’s staff to pay care and attention to your needs. I suppose that
is why it’s quite difficult getting a room!
